Manitou R-Seven Super review£395.00

The R-Seven race special was a totally new fork for Manitou last year and it's already been super successful with the Merida team - among others. We can see why, too. It's significantly lighter (1/4lb or more) than most 100mm forks.

The R-Seven race special was a totally new fork for Manitou last year and it's already been super successful with the Merida team - among others.

We can see why, too. It's significantly lighter (1/4lb or more) than most 100mm forks, but it still steers and stops much better than other race forks. The TPC damped, linear feeling stroke works keenly over all sizes of rock and root too, and we've hammered it far harder than we expected it would cope with, and all without a single nervous moment or nasty kickback.

Rebound is widely adjustable and the big metal lockout/compression lever is easy to engage on the fly for sprinting purposes - just watch that it doesn't get locked accidentally by passing bushes. The Evil Genius seals are well proven weather tight kit and post mounts make disc fitting simple. The Super is also available with a Clik It remote lockout lever (£425), while the Platinum gets the new 'Snap Valve' platform system.
