Cheaply made but eye-wateringly wallet-harming. Trust us: don’t bother

The new Steady pedals feature 12 removable pins on each side, a 6061 alloy body and needle-style inner bearings. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that our first pair wouldn't fit on our test bike thanks to poorly machined threads, and the second pair promptly bent an axle.

Both sets also suffered from a fair degree of play from the first use; although it's minimal, it can be felt on the bike.

Meanwhile, the profile and pin placement is good but not the slimmest, and the body itself seems to get overly battered.

The KCNCs weigh in at just 339g a pair, and you could reduce that even further with a £50 titanium axle upgrade. But a hundred smackers is already too much to pay for a painfully flawed pair of pedals.
