Geall, Davage, Smith and Fielders will ride at Bristol

We’ve just heard that world class dirt jump riders Steve Geall, Jim Davage, Chris Smith and the Fielder Brothers will be at this year’s BIKEfest Event in Bristol. These MBUK regular nutters are definitely woth a trip up to Ashton Court in Bristol on Saturday 19 June.

Sitting alongside the 12 hour XC event, the dirt jumping last year wowed spectators. This year’s sessions will take place early evening so make sure you make it on time. The first session is scheduled for 6pm near the start and finish line of the 12 hour endurance event with the second one following at about 8pm.

The guys will be out on the jumps from lunchtime onwards setting themselves up for the sessions in the evening. You can expect to see a load of back-lips, 360s and tail-whips as they try to out-do one another on the dirt. Bristol-based Bad Ass Bikes will be lobbing T-shirts out into the crowd so if you are in need for some new clobber pop over and see if you can catch one. You’ll be able to get super close to the action while enjoying the refreshments (that’ll be cider, then) in the event village.

But the weekend of the 19-20th June is not just for dirt bike enthusiasts. The 12 hours of Bristol event on Saturday will keep enduro riders out of trouble while the Bristol leg of the Southern XC series takes place on Sunday. The endurance event will kick off at 10am on Saturday and will use the superb single-track loaded course around Ashton Court, which includes some sections of the Timberland Trail. The event is open to everyone from solo riders up to teams of four.

Two DJs and a recently signed Hip Hop Guru will be mixing things up from early evening and live band Kortez will be playing two sets with the second set taking place after the Merida 12 hour finishes, bringing the event to a climax.

For everyone who wants to stay the night (from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday) there will be camping available on site for £ 4 per party/pitch.
