Etape not tough enough for you? In a charity first, the Meningitis Trust is running a Tour de France Challenge in the wake of the 2005 Tour de France. Over four days riders will be testing themselves high up in the French Alps through scenery that has inspired the world’s elite cyclists for more than 100 years. The route runs from Grenoble in the Alps to Lake Annecy with all sponsorship going to fund the Meningitis Trust’s life-saving work.
Nick Rowland-Hill, a participant in a recent Trust Cycle Challenge said: “My interest was completely sports-related was completely sport related to begin with. As I got involved, though, it became a great opportunity to make friends as well as to get fit, have a holiday and raise money for charity. I will never forget the experience.”
To take part you will need to pay a £200 registration fee and raise a minimum sponsorship of £1,500. In return, the organisers will take care of all the practical arrangements – so all you have to do is pedal!
