The field is full for the British Cyclosportive, which closely follows the route of the first stage of the Tour de France, on July 1. Entries went live at noon on Thursday, March 1st, and the official website, www.everydaycycling.com was jammed with requests. The 5000 places available sold out quickly for the ride, which will cover 120 miles between Greenwich and Canterbury.
“We expected a lot of interest in the British Cyclosportive, but to sell out online in less than 24 hours came as a surprise to us all," said Simon Lillistone of British Cycling. "We know that riders and sponsors are keen to make the most of the opportunity to follow much of Stage 1 of the Tour de France, as it is not likely to return to these shores in the near future."
Lillistone also said that a limited number of entry packages are available through Sports Tours International.
