A Cycling Plus reader has decided to undertake the five day race through the Atlas Mountains in North Africa, in response to the Prince's Trust Desert Challenge story on our website.
Nicolas Bertrand, IT manager and Frenchman living in Oxford, will be riding and running across the desert in aid of the Prince's Trust, which will be taking place on 14th-21st January 2006.
"I have decided to take on what could be the biggest challenge of my life, helping to raise thousands of pounds for young people across the UK," commented Nicolas. Starting in Morocco he will be running 43kms and cycling 91kms in a team against other participants, 35 in total.
In preparation he has been cycling, playing squash and jogging. His progress is documented on his blog, where you can see his profile and offer support: http://nicsaharatraining.blogspot.com.
Nicolas has pledged to raise £2,500 in sponsorship, with at least £1,400 going directly to The Prince's Trust. He is looking for any donations, no matter how large or small, to help raise as much as possible to help young people in the UK get their lives back on track.
