Cyclo-cross exhibit in Portland

Visit Vanilla Bicycles through December 31 to check out black-and-white portraits from Brian Vernor.

The Portland cycling community ups its cool factor a few notches this weekend, as a black-and-white photo essay, "Washed in the Mud: US Cyclo-cross Portraits," begins a month-long run at the Vanilla Workshop November 30.

"Washed in the Mud: US Cyclcross Portraits" is the work of Santa Cruz, California-based filmmaker and photographer Brian Vernor ("Pure, Sweet Hell"), who used a medium format Rolleiflex camera and a black backdrop during the 2006 `cross season throughout the US.

An opening night reception will be held on Friday, November 30 from 6:00 - 11:30 pm at Vanilla Bicycles, who's hosting the exhibit through December 3.

Portland also hosts the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclo-cross December 1 -2. The Toyota Portland Cup will be held at the Portland International Raceway.
