Over 10,000 people have registered to take part in this year's Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon, making it the world's biggest event of its kind. This is officially the fastest growing multi-discipline sport in the UK and last year 50% of the participants in the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon were first timers to the sport.
Triathlon is a multi-disciplined event of swimming, cycling and running and has been dubbed the new lifestyle sport of 2005. Over the past 6 years interest in triathlon events has massively increased amongst sportsmen and women in the UK. The event has been adapted to include a shorter swim or run so that amateur triathletes who may be weaker in a certain area can still successfully compete. For athletes who are already strong in one area of sport, this multi-disciplined training also helps to avoid the type of injuries that can be sustained through over-training in just one discipline.
Triathlon competitors Stuart Hayes and Michelle Dillon join us live online at www.webchats.tv on August 4th from 2.30 - 3.15pm to discuss how they got involved in triathlons and how amateurs can get involved, and to tell us more about the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon that they will be competing in on the 6th and 7th of August.
