Thor Hushovd has decided to take his mother along for the Tour de France to act as his personal chef. The Norwegian sprinter isn't too fond of French cuisine and his counting on his mum's cooking getting him through the Tour, according to Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang.

According to the Credit Agricole rider, the plan is that his mother will be in charge of several of the dinners during the three-week long race. "I don't know what mummy will be cooking. That'll be a surprise," Hushovd tells the paper.

The idea has the full support of Hushovd's trainer, Atle Kvlsvoll. "It means that Thor will have his dinner earlier than the others, who dine at about eight o'clock, which again means that he can get to bed earlier. Half an hour of extra sleep per day over three weeks means a lot," says Kvlsvoll.
