Kona Clumpster John Cowan attempts Britain's first loop the loop in the new issue of MBUKJohn Cowan is a fruitbat and we have the evidence.
The Kona Clumpster designed and built a 14ft high wooden loop a few months back in British Columbia - a full pipe, basically - and then he only went and rode the thing. Other top MTBers have tried to follow in Cowan's tyre tracks but it has always ended messily - slams, scars, tears. ugly scenes.
"We'll 'ave some of that," we thought, so we got yer man over to this side of the Pond on a big ol' jumbo jet, sent him down to Jewsons with a pencil behind his ear to fetch the wood, and got him to build a British version.
Then we lined up the biggest bunch of hardcore nutters UK MTBing has to offer - lunatics of the quality of Chris Smith, Jim Davage and Grant Fielder you understand. We put them in a field, sat back and watched them do their stuff.
But hang on, we're giving away the plot. It's all in this month's MBUK, available from your local newsagent now. £3.75 for cash.
