Former Belgian road all-rounder and Classics specialist Johan Museeuw is making his comeback to the pro peloton... at least, his bike brand is.
Procycling's Belgian contributor Frederik Backelandt caught up with the retired Lion of Flanders at Expo Velo Sport, a bicycle show running in Brussels through Monday.
DFL-Cyclingnews-Litepeed will become Team Jako-Cyclingnews (a working title until sponsorship is finalized). Museeuw's flax-carbon bike brand will replace Litespeed as the bike sponsor, with riders racing on the MF1, Museeuw's top model.
Museeuw himself will also be involved with the team, although details haven't been finalized. Former pros Nico Mattan and Eric Vanderaerden will be team directors. Team Jako-Cyclingnews hopes to take part in 2008 in the Tour of Flanders.
Museeuw also told Backelandt his MF-5 model (pictured) is in the running to receive a 2007 Industry Forum (iF) award in Germany, a prize for the most innovative bike product.
