New BikeRadar mountain bike skills Q&A

Section led by Chris Ford of CycleActive

BikeRadar is launching a new mountain bike skills Q&A section in the lead up to BikeRadar Live. The section will be headed by Chris Ford of bike training and holiday company CycleActive.

Chris has been writing skills features for What Mountain Bike magazine for years, runs training sessions at most of the big mountain bike events and has coached everyone from kids to the Olympic Talent Team.

Whatever the question – from “Why does the back of my bike kick out sideways when I jump?” to “How come I can’t ride up steep hills?” – Chris will bring you the solution.

If you have a question, email it to us at with “Skills Q&A” in the subject line and we’ll pitch it to Chris.

Chris founded CycleActive in 1996 and set out to create a professional training and travel operation. He was the first to employ only qualified, professional instructors and now his team leads the way in delivering skills coaching.

Recently, he’s been working closely with the CTC (UK national cyclists’ organisation) on its mountain bike instruction programme. Combined with his own research on vision in mountain biking, his level-4 coach status as an SMBLA tutor, expedition and night riding instructor, this really sets him apart as a coach.
