New mountain bike trail in Bury, Manchester?

£3.8m regeneration scheme includes cycle paths and more

A purpose-built mountain bike trail could be constructed as part of the multi-million pound  regeneration of an area of Manchester.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency has announced £3.8 million of funding to transform brownfield land in Bury.

The site has already been earmarked for 13km of cycle paths and footpaths, with the project being managed by the Forestry Commission.

The feasibility of a mountain bike course is being explored, with researchers investigating whether there is local demand for such a trail. It could be completed within two years if it gets the go-ahead.

We’ll keep you up to date with any further news on the new trail.
