Off-road guidebooks for England’s south east

Books tackle North and South Downs, Ridgeway and Chilterns

Two new mountain biking guidebooks which cover the best of south east England’s off-road trails have just been published.

The first covers the popular North and South Downs and the second takes in the Ridgeway and Chiltern hills. Each book details 24 different rides, so between them they offer enough options to keep you busy over the coming months.

The books feature easy-to-use maps and descriptions of the trails as well as useful hints from the author including those explaining differing trail conditions depending on the season, notes about riding, essential kit and how to plan your ride. There’s also a useful appendix of local tourist information centres, pubs, accommodation and bike shops. The ‘Top 10’ section is also a helpful addition and includes Top 10 Mountain bike playgrounds and Top 10 downhill rides.

We’ll be hitting the trails with the guidebooks soon, so watch out for a proper BikeRadar review.

Meanwhile if you want to download some routes from the books for free, go to this page now.
