STEVE PEAT CROWNED KING OF LISBON DOWNTOWN FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
This weekend saw the annual Redbull Downtown race invade the streets of Lisbon for the fifth year running. Invited riders compete to "Beat the Street" and post the fastest time, as with a conventional downhill race.

Unsuspecting tourists were left bewildered as the likes of Gracia, Hannah and Anne Caro whizzed past during the early morning practice session, the riders looking for the fastest lines through the tight streets and down the long sets of twisty stairs.

Racing proper kicked off at 14:00 and as the sun blazed down on the cobbled streets of old Alfama, it was Cedric Gracia who set the pace with a time of 1m39s097 on the 1000m course during the Semi's. Mick Hannah (AUS) was 2nd, David Vazquez (ESP) 3rd and Steve Peat (GBR) 4th during the qualifying round, with only one second separating them all.

The female contingent consisted of an ever on form Anne Caro, followed by Britain's own Helen Gaskell.

With the final underway, Peaty lead from the off, Vazquez, Hannah and Gracia all tried to beat his time of 1m35s962 but couldn't match the pace of Steve.

Eventual standings were Mick Hannah in 2nd, Gracia in 3rd & Vazquez came in respectable 4th only hundreds of a second off Gracia's podium 3rd.

Halfords sponsored Helen Gaskell made it to 3rd position with a great run in the women's race, with Anneke Berteen in 2nd and Anne Caroline Chausson the unsurprising winner/Jamie Carter
