The Spanish continental team set up by former Russian football star Valeri Karpin and known as Karpin Galicia has signed veteran Galician rider Santos Gonzalez, who will be 33 in December. The move will see Gonzalez join up once again with Alvaro Pino, who was his team manager at Phonak a couple of seasons back. The Galician team have also signed David Herrero (Euskaltel) and Carlos Casta¤o (Kaiku) for the next two seasons, as well as Basque rider Gaizka Lasa.

- It has taken long for former Kelme and Comunitat Valenciana team manager Vicente Belda to find a new position within the sport. He has been signed up as a consultant to the new Fuerteventura y Canarias team that has been set up by the Canary Islands tourism body. Much of the team's 1.8m euro budget is likely to be spent on former Comunitat Valenciana riders, although Ruben Plaza is unlikely to be among them as he is seriously considering an offer from Caisse d'Epargne. The team is aiming to ride an international calendar, as well as to secure a spot in next year's Vuelta.

- The Italo-Russian Tinkoff team have announced a 15-rider roster to which Evgeni Petrov, Tyler Hamilton and Jan Ullrich may well be added - the former almost certainly. Managed by Omar Piscina and with Orlando Maini and Dmitri Konyshev as directeurs, the team will ride on Colnago bikes. The riders confirmed so far are: Elia Aggiano (Ita)), Pavel Brutt (Rus), Ilya Chernetsky (Rus), Salvatore Commesso (Ita), Daniele Contrini (Ita), Danilo Hondo (Ger), Sergei Klimov (Rus), Mikhail Ignatiev (Rus), Ruggero Marzoli (Ita), Anton Mindlin (Rus), Ivan Rovny (Rus), Alexander Serov (Rus), Ricardo Serrano (Spa), Nikolai Trusov (Rus), Steffen Weigold (Ger).
