Steve Peat injured; but qualifies on sheer guts
Fort William update 12.30; Sunday Steve Peat takes final run to qualify 12th. The men's downhill final starts at 2pm. Mickael Pascal qualified fastest with 4.08.65; next is Fabien Barel at 4.09.96 and Cedric Gracia at 4.12.29. Will Longden is on top form in 4th place.

Steve took the gondola up after 12 and waited for the final run after missing his first place slot through injury. Word spread around the riders and fans and it became an open secret Steve was on the course, with everyone hanging around the finish.

Despite his obvious pain and injury, Steve came down in 4.19.67 and took 12th place. "I'm all right if I'm standing up," he said, "but I'm having trouble in right hand turns and I can't clip out."

Ian McIntosh was course leader for a moment after a timing error; and made the most of his moment by leaping into the hotseat. He was reclassified 30 seconds down and in the 60s.

We've just spoken to Steve Peat, who's sitting in the back of his van getting his foot strapped up. He twisted his ankle badly in the 4X; his foot is black and cut... But in true Peaty spirit, he's still hoping to be able to get on the chairlift by 12 noon to qualify for the final...
12noon; Fort William.
Will Longden has just done a stunning run and qualified in fourth place, just behind Barel, Pascal and Gracia. "They've filled in some of the holes up top now, so that's better," he said, "but I was having to pedal hard all the way... hope I 've got that in me again for this afternoon!"
