Phonak's Niki Aebersold won Thursday's mountainous sixth stage of the nine-stage Tour of Switzerland between Frutigen and Linthal, leaving behind his breakaway companions to come home alone, almost three minutes ahead of Rabobank's Thorwald Veneberg. A seven-man group including race leader Jan Ullrich (T-Mobile) was led home by Roger Beuchat (Vini Caldirola), another member of the original six-man break, a further nine seconds after Veneberg. Ullrich holds on to his lead, now six seconds ahead of second-placed Fabian Jeker (Saunier Duval) after Phonak's Oscar Camenzind dropped from his second place overall, two seconds down on Ullrich at the start of the day, to seventh, 1.15 down.
