Lance Armstrong's Team RadioShack is among five cycling teams that have entered the inaugural Quiznos Pro Challenge race taking place next August, organisers announced yesterday.
The seven-time Tour de France champion was a key figure in creating the event, which will feature seven stages through 11 cities, including Denver and the ski resorts of Aspen and Vail.
Italy's Liquigas-Cannondale team and three other US teams – HTC-Highroad, BMC Racing and Slipstream Sports/Team Garmin-Cervelo – will join Armstrong's squad, whose manager is Johan Bruyneel, a nine-time Tour de France winner as a race director.
Armstrong, who will compete next month at the Tour Down Under in Australia in his last professional ride outside US borders, is the subject of a probe by American federal prosecutors. They're investigating allegations by admitted dope cheat Floyd Landis that the Texan used performance-enhancing drugs.
