USA events: August & September

A listing of fun riding events in August and September for our US readers.

Temperatures are cooling, and the cycling events are heating up throughout the US. There are several off-road and road events planned in August and September. We've also found a few October events for you long-range planners. Enjoy!


6/12 Hours OF PANDO, Pando Ski Area, Rockford, MI, August 18
The 14th Annual 6/12 Hours of Pando will pit mixed teams, age groupers, and singlespeeders over the 4.5-mile course, followed by a 1 a.m. party.

24 Hours of Allamuchy, Boy Scout Camp at Mt. Allumchy, NJ, August 24
If last year's 450-rider turnout was any indication, the 14th Annual 24 Hours of Allamuchy will be a rolling party in New Jersey once again.

24 Hours of Afton presented by Salsa Cycles, Afton Alps, MN, August 24
With over 600 feet of climbing each lap, the 24 Hours of Afton is challenging but not overwhelming, with a mix of single and double track.

12 Hours of Humboldt, Arcata Community Forest, Arcata, CA, August 25
The 8-mile course has 1,600 feet of climbing per lap, under the giant redwoods of the Arcata Community Forest. Solos will get preferred pits/parking.

12 & 24 Hours of Drummond Island, Drummond Island Resort, Drummond Island, MI, September 1-2
Treat yourself to a bit of luxury instead of camping for 12 or 24 hours of racing on Drummond Island.

Whiskeytown Classic, Whiskeytown Lake, CA, September 7-8
Take part in the NorCal state championships series with short track and XC races.

6/12 Hours Of Hanson Hills, Hanson Hills Rec. Area, Grayling, MI, September 15
Here's your chance to race in the 2007 Michigan Cup Endurance Series finals.

Churn & Burn 24-Hour MTB Relay Race, Brialee Camp Ground, Ashford, CT, September 15
The Churn & Burn will bring mountain bikers from all over New England to test their limits against the clock and each other in Eastern Connecticut.

Tour of the White Mountains, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, Lakeside, AZ, October 6
The 11th Annual Tour of the White Mountains showcases some of Pinetop & Lakeside Arizona's greatest mountain biking trails.

24 Hours at Albion: Hot August Nights presented by Sporting Life, Albion Hills Conservation Area, Bolton, Ontario, Canada, August 25
24 Hours at Albion provides riders a great chance to finish out the summer surrounded by great scenery, spectacular riding, and, above all, friends and family.

World Solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin, Laguna Seca Raceway, Monterey, CA, September 1
The 9th annual The World Solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin™ will see an international roster of solo athletes vying for honors in both the elite, age group and single speed categories. There's also a new Team category for 2007.

Shenandoah Mountain 100, Stokesville Park, Harrisonburg , VA, September 2
The 9th Annual Shenandoah Mountain 100 is a challenging backcountry mountain bike race in Virginia's George Washington National forest on singletrack, doubletrack, fireroads with a bit of pavement.

Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, Hayward, WI, September 15
Choose from the 40 mile point-to-point race from Hayward to Cable, or race the 16-mile Short and Fat in the north woods of Wisconsin.

24 Hours of Adrenalin - Hurkey Creek Park #2, Idyllwild, CA, September 22

24 Hours of Landahl, Landahl Park, Jackson County, MO, September 23

Tour de Cure Colorado, Longmont, CO, August 25
