Best Backcountry Black Friday deals
Oakley EVZero Path Prizm sunglasses $176 $123

Competitive Cyclist is offering 30% off Oakley’s super lightweight EVZero Path sunglasses this Black Friday.
With a frameless design, these feel super light on the face and give totally clear peripheral vision.
Garmin Edge 1030 bundle – $594.99 $699.99

The Garmin Edge 1030 was superseded by the 1030 Plus earlier this year but that doesn’t make it any less capable a unit – it is still an almost bewilderingly feature-rich device that will give more training, navigation and performance metrics than you will ever really need.
Better still, it’s available with a huge $105 saving from Backcountry this Black Friday.
64% off Selle SMP white grip tape

$54 is an outrageous amount of money to spend on white bar tape. $19.49 is not. Indulge in your fantasies of looking pro as heck this Black Friday. Go on – you deserve it.
60% off all Astute Italia saddles

Backcountry is offering huge savings on its entire range of Astute Italia saddles, with discounts running as high as $359 off the top-end Astute Italia Moon VT luxury saddle.
If you want to try out a new perch, this is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain.
Ortlieb Back-Roller Classic panniers – $190 $142.50

You really can’t go wrong with a set of Ortlieb panniers – they are extremely hard wearing, supported with excellent spares availability and available in a wide range of colours.
Better still, they’re available with a 25% saving currently at Backcountry.
Castelli RoS overshoe – $99.95 $74.99

Castelli’s RoS overshoes give extended coverage compared to a standard overshoe, extending into the calf. This could make these a great choice for the winter months ahead.
Better still, they’re available with a 25 percent discount currently at Backcountry.
Ridley Dean 105 Road Bike – $2,699 $1,749

This road bike from Ridley places aerodynamics above all else, and is aimed first and foremost at triathletes. Ridley describes the bike as having a “unicorn balance of speed and affordability”– heady stuff!
Now that the Dean 105 has been dropped in price by 35 percent to $1,749, this is arguably true: an exceptionally strong offering on a bike that’s kitted out with a Shimano 105 groupset and comes sporting a coat of aerodynamic ‘F-Surface’ paint.
Zipp Tangente Speed R28 Tire – Clincher – $65 $22.99

The 64 percent price drop on this tire isn’t quite as incredible as it looks: we’re seeing prices hover around the $24 to $40 price point on other retail sites.
Zipp first started out as a brand whose tires were focused on aerodynamics, but since then has evolved to offer a more balanced approach. It’s on sale at Backcountry for just $22.99.
Patagonia Nano Puff Men’s Insulated Jacket – $199 $138.99-$149.25

Patagonia is a brand that always treads the line between functionality and style to near perfection – whih is why we’re mighty pleased to see the discount applied to this men’s jacket. The Nano Puff is available in a wide range of colours, including both muted tones and bright primaries, although the discount changes depend on the colour and size you pick. Ultimately though, you’ll be saving at least $49.75: an excellent saving on a reputable brand.
Arc’teryx Cerium LT Women’s Hooded Down Jacket – $379 $284.25

Just as welcome is the 25 percent price drop on this women’s puffer jacket from Arc-teryx. Again, it’s available in a wide range of colours, from Quantum (yellow) to Bushwhack (olive green), and features 850-fill goose down. Factor in the insulated hood and the elastic cuffs, and you’ve got a jacket that looks sure to keep you snug and warm on those chilly bike rides.
Should I wait for Cyber Monday?
By tradition, Cyber Monday has always been the online-only epilogue to the in-store deals of Black Friday. But with the rise of online shopping in recent years, there’s now far less of a distinction between the two days. Rarely now do retailers showcase a deal exclusive in-store – you’re far more likely to find deals that are either initially or only online instead.
Since the ongoing pandemic is keeping lots of shoppers out of stores, we expect all remaining distinctions between Black Friday and Cyber Monday to dissolve altogether. Our guess is that both days will play out this year as a combined four-day sale, with no lull in the deals action on the Saturday or Sunday.
