Bullhead is in love with his 2004 GT
If you caught our interview with Dave Wardell, shortly after his good result at the World Cup, you’ll have heard him raving about his 2004 bike (which he rode in the World Cup 2003 – cutting edge early adopter that he is).
Here’s what all the fuss is about. And while cynical old us kind of expect a sponsored rider not to slag his race bike in public, you can rest assured that Dave really is made up with this machine.
“My DH I-drive pedals so well, I keep forgetting it has suspension. I reckon I would be in with a chance entering an XC race on it – not that I am going to.”
Well you have to pedal in DH these days, but you wouldn’t want it too much like an XC bike, not the way you ride. (Read h e a v e e e e!)
“It’s not, the suspension kicks in good and proper when you need it… I have already sent it off some big cliffs and drops when we were in Swiss Cheese Land, on any other bike I reckon I would have been brown bread.”
Can we have one or is it stupidly expensive?
“You can get a complete bike with top parts, Hayes disks, Hadley hubs, 888 Marzocchi forks, the new amazing WTB DH tyres and more, at just under £3000 complete. Which is only £500 more than the best competitor’s frame only cost. This bike is gonna be unbeatable in 2004.”
