Scotland’s cycle path network to get £6m upgrade
Scotland’s cycle path network is to get a £6m revamp, Transport Minister Keith Brown has announced. Improvements will be made to the Land’s End to John O’Groats route with an upgrade to the stretch from Barnton Junction to the Forth Road Bridge in Edinburgh.
The cash will also be used to create more cycle paths in Glasgow ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Routes in Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh will also be improved, as will the cycle path along the A90.
As well as providing a boost for infrastructure, it will allow the country’s school children to learn more about bike safety by providing more funds to schemes such as Bikeability and Give Me Cycle Space.
