Renthal plug Fatbar range with 30mm riser bar

Renthal have bolstered their Fatbar handlebar range with the addition of a 30mm rise option. They say a combination of steeper courses, frames with shorter head tubes and lower stack headsets has led a swing back towards higher rise bars on the Downhill World Cup circuit. The new bar plugs the hole between their low (10/20mm) and high rise (38mm) bars, and is available now for £59.99/$79.

Mix it with the pros at Alpine multi-stage charity cycle challenge

An Alpine pro-am cycling challenge which hopes to raise £1m for charity has been launched. Trois Etapes, a three-stage event which sees riders scale Cols du Galibier and Madeleine, also sees former Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre return for the first time to the scene of his greatest triumph on Alpe d’Huez. Running from Sunday 29 July to Tuesday 31 July, it will see teams of six (one pro, five amateurs) race across a mix of timed and rolling peloton sections. They will battle it out on a daily team time trial and an Hors category climb.

The televised event (Eurosport, 19 August) is open to anyone; as the goal is to raise money for charity, entrants are asked to make a £1,000 donation to charity as well as committing to raising £4,000 in sponsorship. Those set to benefit include Right to Play and the Prostate Cancer Charity. The event is also supported by a full compliment of support crew, including mechanics, masseurs, physios, team radios and catering. Visit the Trois Etapes website for further info.
