BikeRadar Live: Family rides, open sessions and tuition

Ride the circuit at a gentler pace

Family rides, open sessions and tuition

If you fancy a gentler ride round the Donington circuit, the family rides are for you. They’re a perfect opportunity to get out in a non-competitive atmosphere and take all the time you need.

Whether you’re on your own bike or a demo ride, all ages and abilities are welcome, there is no extra charge and we’ll have expert tutors on hand to give advice. All you need to do is register on the day.

Younger riders can head out on their own or ride alongside family and friends. An hour is ample time to complete a few laps and have some fun. The circuit is two miles long and will give all levels a good workout. If you can’t make it all the way round, don’t worry. Our marshals will be on hand to get you safely back to the start/finish point.

There will be plenty of challenges and races for those who want to test themselves. You can even time yourself, with a chip timing facility available for £5.

Family rides will be held at the following times:

  • Saturday 30 May: 2pm-3pm
  • Sunday 31 May: 10.30am-11.30am

How to take part

All you need to do is register at the registration tent on arrival at the show. Registration will close half an hour before each session.

You’ll need to produce a photo ID, passport or driving licence PLUS a household bill, and sign an indemnity. Under-18s will need a parent or guardian to sign for them. Under-12s will need an adult to ride with them, with no more than three children allowed per adult.

All riders must wear helmets. Bikes will be checked to make sure they are roadworthy before you are allowed onto the trails or track, and must be clean if you want to go onto the circuit. Times are subject to change, and weather conditions permitting.
