With the days getting shorter and colder, why not give some thought to how you’ll be keeping up with your training schedule if the weather turns. Here, we’ve rounded up six of the best deals on our favourite smart trainers if you can’t wait until 23 November.

Mercifully, indoor training has become a little more bearable in recent years with the introduction of smart trainers and apps such as Zwift bringing a competitive edge to what has previously been a pretty darn tedious task.

Cycleops Hammer smart trainer — £1,000 £699.99

CycleOps has been making power meters longer than anybody other than SRM, so it should be no surprise that the measurement on the Hammer trainer is pretty darn good — we measured it within two percent of the Pioneer and Vector meters, with very consistent behaviour overall.

Better still, you can now have this legendary reliability with a whopping £300 off at ProBikeKit.

Tacx Flux smart trainer — £565 £399

The Tacx Flux Smart trainer is one of our favourite connected direct-drive trainers on the market. It sacrifices some of the features of the top-end Neo model (primarily packability) in favour of a more reasonable price.

While there are cheaper direct-drive trainers available, the Flux is currently one of the cheapest to feature full FE-C (Fitness Equipment Control) integration, which means it can mimic courses you’ve ridden outside.

Tacx Neo smart trainer — £1,199.99 £849.99

In our opinion the Tacx Neo offers one of the most immersive and engaging riding experiences out there (bar actually riding outside); simulating road surfaces and modulating resistance smoothly.

Power measurement is dependable and consistent and there’s not much that speaks against the unit apart from the high cost. With the discount featured here, that might not be as much of a problem anymore (for some) though.

This has ben creeping down in price in recent days and is now available at just £849.99.

Tacx Vortex smart trainer — £379 £324.99

The Tacx Vortex is a more budget-focussed option, foregoing the direct-drive system for the more traditional wheel-on roller configuration. This can mean reduced accuracy in terms of power measurements, but generally results in a cheaper, lighter and more compact trainer.

Resistance for this model tops out at 950w, so stronger riders will likely overwhelm the Vortex quite quickly, but it should suffice for those looking to indulge in an evening training session in the pain cave.

Elite Direto smart trainer — £769 £599

The Elite Direto isn’t cheap, but it is on the less expensive side of direct-drive smart trainers. For that money you get very accurate power measurement and a good riding ‘feel’.

It might not feature all the bells and whistles of higher end models such as the Elite Drivo, but it provides all the features that you really need at a reasonable price. Now that price just got even more reasonable.

Tacx Satori smart trainer — £284.99 £190.99

The Satori is one of the most simple smart trainers on the market and is a great option for those just starting out with indoor training.

Getting into indoor training is now easier than ever with a healthy 32% discount currently at Wiggle.
