Bush receives cycling jersey, GPS in Israel

Prime minister exchanges gift with US president

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert presented US President George W. Bush with an Israeli cycling Jersey and a GPS system for mountain biking as the two exchanged gifts on the first day of the US leader’s visit in Jerusalem January 9, 2008.

According to an AFP report, Olmert also gave President Bush a hydration backpack.

The GPS navigation system included trail maps around the president’s ranch in Texas and Israeli biking routes.

“To my friend George Bush from one athlete to another. Happy trails,” read the message that appears on the GPS next to Israeli and American flags.

Bush presented Olmert, a keen football fan also known for jogging 10 kilometres every day, a soccer ball emblazoned with the Israeli and American flags, a sports bag and cufflinks.

President Bush, a keen mountain biker, also received some riding goodies from his wife Laura for Christmas.
