Transition have a range of colourful new mountain bike kit to help you pimp your ride. We’ve just been sent a box containing everything from pedals and saddles to stems and chain devices. Our colleagues at Mountain Biking UK will be putting them through their paces any minute now. In the meantime, here’s the lowdown…
The blue anodised Stepdown pedals look particularly nice, with a custom CNC machined body, sealed bearings and replaceable pins. They weigh in at 540g a pair and also come in black, green, gold and red. RRP is US$59 (approx £39).
Staying with the blue theme, Transition’s ISCG chain device takes chainrings with 32 to 36 teeth – including the company’s own 32t ring, shown here in anodised green – and weighs just 165g.
It’s made of 6061 heat treated alloy and is designed to be easily serviceable, with two sealed bearings. If you want to add a bashguard, it’s compatible with models from FSA, Truvativ, MRP, Shimano and Race Face. It’s also available in black, gold, red and green. RRP is $89 (approx £59).
The gold-anodised Temple Lite stem will certainly get you seen. Transition say it’ll suit “any bike you want to ride aggressively without having to pay a weight penalty”. It’s 50mm long with a six-degree rise, and takes oversize (31.8mm) bars. Models are available to fit 1 1/8in (220g) and 1 1/5in (210g) steerers. It’s also available in black, grey, red, green and blue. RRP is $68 (approx £45).
The T-Bar30 is made of 7075 T6 custom double butted aluminium and combines a decent width (760mm) with a fairly low rise (25mm). It has five degrees of upsweep and eight degrees of backsweep, and weighs 292g. RRP is $59 (approx £39).
Transition have three Park n’ Ride saddles in their range – one for dirt jumpers, one for freeriders and one for all-mountain riders. All have chromoly rails and a synthetic leather upper. They range in price from $29 (approx £19) to $40 (approx £26), and in weight from 250g to 325g.
