This year’s 661 Mini Downhill Races are taking place on February 22 at the Forest of Dean and March 29 at Chicksands.
Riders will complete two timed runs, each lasting around 30-40 seconds, racing against the clock for the fastest time.
“There are hundreds of people who ride at the Forest of Dean who have never raced, so we’ve brought a race to their local track,” said race organiser Chris Roberts. “The course is fun and flowing to ride, but a real challenge to ride flat out on the limit.”
Practice sessions run from 9am-10:45am each day and the races themselves begin at 11am. Prizes will be presented at 3:45pm.
Race categories are:
- Rippers – Age 10-11
- Juvenile – Age 12-14
- Youth – Age 15-16
- Senior – Age 17-29
- Master – Age 30+
The Mini Downhill Races are the only downhill events in the UK to have a category for the under-12s approved by British Cycling.
The Pro-Am category is open to pros, semi pros and any other experienced racers who feel up to the challenge.
