Fat Face Night Race hits Scarborough soon

Athertons, Davis, Beaumont and others to compete for season's final UCI points

Last year’s inaugural Fat Face Night Race, which took place in Edinburgh to a crowd of 6,000, is moving to Scarborough in October 2008 for a night of high-adrenaline fun.

Gee, Rachel and Dan Atherton are expected to race, as are World Master Champions Lee Bertram and Lynda Davis, and Team BikeRadar’s Marc Beaumont, Neil Donoghue and Will Longden.

The race is the last chance this year for participants to gain UCI points for the next World Cup, which means the £3,000 pro prize purse won’t be the only thing in contention on Saturday the 4th of October.

The course is being kept under wraps for now, but we do know that it will start at ScarboroughCastle, feature some man-made wooden features to awe the crowds, and finish near the sea front.

The finish area and trade stands have quadrupled in size for this year’s event, with Jagermeister on hand to pass out some samples of liquid refreshment.

It’s not just the pros that can contend for cash, the race is designed to accommodate riders aged 12 to 40-plus in a family friendly day.
