First Rides: Banshee Chaparral
Tested in the new issue of MBUK, on sale now
Banshee Bikes is the brainchild of Syncros founder Pippin Osborne, and all its products are tested on the North Shore terrain that surrounds the company’s Canadian HQ. After requests for a lighter trail version of the Scream freeride bike, the guys have come up with the Chaparral.
Our test rig had a lightweight freeride spec, with Marzocchi’s air-sprung Bomber FR150 fork up front and a Fox air can out back. The groupset was an XT/Truvativ mix, the wheels were built from Mavic D521 rims wrapped in IRC Kujo DH tyres and the disc brakes were ultra-sharp Hayes units. The rest of the componentry was a mixed bag of solid kit – distributors Freeborn will fit almost any parts you desire.
