Fisher Expo 3: Road round-up
There was plenty of cutting-edge road kit on display at UK distributor Fisher Outdoor Leisure’s ’09 trade show. Here are the highlights from MET, Tacx, Schwalbe, Santini, Maxim and VDO. Click on the thumbnails on the right for more images.
MET had their new SINE-Thesis helmet on display. With an integrated composite exoskeleton, it is said to weigh just 200g (medium) and offer “360-degree ventilation”. The SINE-Thesis has gel padding, ventilated Kevlar straps and MET’s Safe T Lite retention system, and will cost £149. It will be available in black or white.
Tacx were showing off their new Bushido, the first totally wireless high-resistance trainer. They also had a demo of Fortius Google Earth. Due out in the summer, this enables you to import Garmin and Google Earth rides to make indoor training on your Tacx Fortius more realistic and engaging.

Schwalbe introduced their new Ultemo R road tyre at the show. This has been designed to have less rolling resistance yet more puncture protection and more grip. It features Schwalbe’s nano technology and is available in seven colours.

Road clothing firm Santini had their latest fashion and 365 ranges on display, along with some team replica kits. All of their products are hand-made and designed in Italy.

Sports nutrition company Maxim had new Active Hydration drink tablets in grapefruit and lemon flavour, along with a new raspberry energy gel.

VDO had their latest range of cycle computers on display, from basic four-function models up to their top-of-the-range £280 multi-function sports watch. The 22-function Z3 has all the normal functions plus countdown, lap and time trial timing modes.
