Halfords Bikehut has just signed up to join us at the three remaining Demo Day events at Aston Hill, Dalby Forest and Newnham Park, and they’ll be bringing bikes from their Carrera, Carrera Women’s, Boardman, Voodoo and GT brands.
The Bikehut division has recently been producing a nicely sorted range of Carrera mountain bikes with frames, forks and other finishing kit that would be at home on far more costly bikes. The all-mountain Banshee full suspension bike will be available to ride, as will the carbon Titan hardtail and the full sus cross country Zelos. There’ll also be women-specific versions of the Kraken and the Zelos available for the girls to get acquainted with. Carrera bikes regularly score highly in tests, so check out the related links for our reviews.
Boardman bikes have been designed by Olympic and triple world champion Chris Boardman, and are well specced with Avid, Rock Shox and SRAM kit. Grab a free ride and decide for yourself whether Chris has been able to translate all of that road know-how into a winning off road bike.
The Voodoo Canzo is Voodoo’s top level full susser with Rock Shox Revelations, a mix of LX and XT shifting and Hayes HFX 9 disc brakes. The Voodoo D-Jab is Voodoo’s titanium hardtail – Steve Worland calls it “a star”. The Voodoo Wanga is a steel singlespeed-compatible hardtail and the Demo Days offer a great chance to sample its delights.
There’ll be a range of GT bikes too from the hardtail XCR to the full suspension I-drive and the new-look Santa Cruz Blur LT will also be publicly on display for the first time.
Since its introduction in 2005, the Blur LT has been Santa Cruz’ best selling bike, and the Californian company has just spent two years making it even better. With painstakingly detailed upgrades including refining the VPP suspension feel under power without losing bump absorption, to pivot lifespan, mud clearance, overall stiffness, paint longevity and cable routing the new Blur LT has so far received positive reviews.
