GB team announced for UCI BMX World Championships

Bloomfield and Phillips heading Down Under

Olympic BMX rider Liam Phillips will be heading to the UCI World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, along with fellow Briton Marcus Bloomfield

British Cycling will send a two-man squad to the UCI BMX World Championships in Adelaide, Australia later this month.

Marcus Bloomfield and Liam Phillips, who have shown great form at this year’s UEC European BMX Championships, will make the journey Down Under.

Marcus took second place at last month’s round of the European Champs in Cheddar, Somerset, while youngster Liam, who competed at the Olympics in Beijing last summer, made it into his first European elite main events at the same competition.

Grant White, British Cycling’s Olympic BMX coach, said: “Both these guys are in the best shape of their career at the moment. Both have recently overcome injury and their performances in the Europeans show they have regained their strength. We’re looking forward to the World Champs.”

The UCI BMX World Championships in Adelaide take place from 24-26 July. For details, see
