The 19-year-old Muddyfox/Animal rider qualified in second place then stormed the 2.5km Schladming course in the final to beat Australians Nathan Rennie and Sam Hill to top spot. Steve Peat and Cedric Gracia didn’t get a look in, finishing fourth and fifth.

Peaty, though, is still top of the overall World Cup standings with Gee moving up to fourth spot. so things are pretty darn good for the Brit boys right now.

Tracy Moseley finished fourth in the women’s DH, won my Switzerland’s Marielle Saner, and Helen Gaskell got eighth. Tracy also got third in the 4X.

By the way, the August edition of MBUK (issue 175, on sale 8th July) sees the aforementioned Mr Gee Atherton perform what our man Doddy describes as, “The most insane thing I’ve seen anyone do on a bike. Ever.” A big shout. You’ll be impressed.
