Gorrick release details of 2009 races

Big changes to UK spring cross-country series

The Gorrick team have released details of their 2009 Spring Series. It will consist of five open cross-country races held on Sundays between January and April.

Saddle Skedaddle, the UK’s biggest independent cycle holiday provider, has come on board as the series’ title sponsor. And there will be mountain bike breaks up for grabs for all participants, not just race winners.

This year’s series also boasts a new venue (Ash Vale in Surrey), extra categories (separate Masters and Vets races, plus a Super Vets class for over-60s) and different start times.

Gorrick’s Jon Lucas said: “We’re delighted to have Saddle Skedaddle on board. With their support, it is sure to be the best series ever, with superb venues, loyal support from our local mountain bike retailers and a fantastically supportive rider base who understand the thrill of the chase-and -be-chased principle that pushes you to new levels in a way that only cross-country racing can do.”

Saddle Skedaddle’s Andrew Straw said: “We’re keen to support Gorrick. It’s an independent setup that’s been around for years and has a depth and a quality that we admire. They encourage all types of riders to try something new, which is similar to the Saddle Skedaddle ethos, where we like customers to immerse themselves in new experiences. Just like Gorrick, we like to make it easier for people to enjoy themselves.”
