Hampshire's Challenge Rides
Test Valley Tour Series
One local council in Hampshire is leading the way for cycling events in the south.
For the past four years Test Valley Borough Council has been developing the Test Valley Tour Series, from a one off event to a popular and established series of four events. Unusually for a local council, Test Valley Borough Council has a real commitment to provide healthy, low cost activities by promoting this series which features the very best of the Test Valley’s varied landscape.
Offering a mix of two road and two off road events ensures the widest appeal and means that the whole of this great area can be easily ridden. All routes offered are waymarked which is great for those of us who don’t like the map reading bit of a good ride!
The regular 50km “Hot” Mountain Bike Challenge is now well established on the last Sunday in July and offers loads of single track through wooded areas with plenty of climbs to some great scenery. Not a race but a great leisure ride which sees riders coming back year after year – if only to see what colour the t-shirts are – a nice shade of yellow!
The first offering of a “Cool” Mountain Bike Challenge last November saw almost 400 riders turn out and organisers are hoping to improve on that number for the event planned for 16 November. As well as a getting a great muddy ride every rider who takes part goes into a prize draw with a chance to win £1000 of Exodus Holiday vouchers.
