The announcement of the result of Roberto Heras’s counter-analysis after the Spaniard had previously tested positive for the blood-booster EPO has been delayed until Friday due to a testing technicality.
The CSD laboratory in Madrid had been expected to reveal the results of Heras’s B sample from the penultimate stage of the Vuelta to the rider and to the International Cycling Union on Wednesday lunchtime. However, the announcement of the result is now likely to be delayed until Friday while further tests on the sample are undertaken.
“The process is not yet finished, it is continuing and will be finished the day after tomorrow,” CSD lab director Francisco Rodriguez told the press.
Heras reiterated his claims of innocence in a press conference held in Madrid on Wednesday afternoon. But he, like the rest of us, must now wait another 48 hours to see whether those claims stand up.
