South Carolina-based Hincapie Sportswear have launched a new line of jeans, called the Hincapie Premium Denim Collection, with a new website to boot.
Hincapie jeans retail for US$144.99 and are available in both men’s and women’s sizes, in five designer styles for each gender. Surely George Hincapie and his Columbia-Highroad teammates are decked out. We can’t imagine Mark Cavendish wearing anything else, especially while out celebrating his umpteenth victory with his mates.
According to Hincapie Sportswear’s president Rich Hincapie, several people involved with their family-owned facility in Columbia, South America have been in the denim business for years, and it was a natural addition to the Hincapie cycling line.
“Denim is a natural step for us,” he told BikeRadar. “It’s a perfect representation of who we are; every customer who walks into a bike shop is a potential buyer for our denim. Pretty much everyone out there owns several pairs of jeans, so it seems to make sense, especially for the shops that are interested in diversifying and thinking a bit outside the box.”
According to Hincapie, the place where Hincapie clothing is made, ‘La Factoria’, is actually two very large houses built in the early 1900s that they completely renovated.
“It’s not the normal factory one might imagine as we have wood floors, white tile and are in one of the older nicer neighbourhoods in Medellin called Prado Centro, right down the block from the mayor’s house,” he added.
The new website features photos of Tour de France stage winner Hincapie and his wife Melanie – a former Tour podium girl and model – wearing the new collection.
