The judge investigating former Kelme pro Jesus Manzano’s allegations against members of that team dr
PIC BY TDWSPORT.COM According to Wednesday’s edition of Marca, the Spanish judge investigating claims of doping within the Kelme squad made by former team rider Jesus Manzano has dropped the case because of a lack of evidence. Judge Mar¡a Antonia Torres D¡ez-Madro¤ero had heard evidence from both sides in the dispute, including former pros Pedro Diaz Lobato and Dario Gadeo, who backed up Manzano’s allegations of systematic doping within Spanish teams. Former Kelme team manager Vicente Belda and team doctors Walter Viru, Eufemiano Fuentes, Alfredo Cordova and Gerardo Villa also gave evidence to the judge. According to Marca, the investigation has come to a dead end because Manzano and his legal team have been unable to prove their accusations. In the end, the papers that he holds are said to reveal nothing that shows systematic doping, and the case has come down to a war of words and mutual accusations. It remains to be seen whether this is the last that will be heard of Manzano. There exists the possibility that some members of the Kelme team’s former management and medical staff will consider taking legal action against Manzano, while the ex-rider is still contesting another suit against his former team, who, he alleges, broke his contract by releasing him before the end of the 2003 season.
