Around 900 riders took part in last weekend’s Kona Cheddar Bikefest in South West England, enjoying a dry yet challenging course and a rare glimpse of sunshine.
About 30 riders took part in Friday’s NiteRider Night Time Trial, taking the opportunity to check out the course under race conditions before Saturday’s 10-hour event. The last starter of the evening, Martyn Brooks from Yeti Cycles, completed the course in 16 minutes and 44 seconds. See the Kona Cheddar Bikefest website for complete night time trial results.
Saturday’s 10-hour solo event was won by Keith Jones from Back on Track Bikes, who completed 31 laps in 9 hours 26 minutes. The women’s solo event was won by Lynne Coldray from Team Milton Keynes White bikes, who completed 23 laps. The pairs competition went to the LVIS Finest Pair, while the mixed pairs even was won by Team Ed and Meg. The men’s team competition was won by Team www.BikeCity.biz, with 38 laps.
There was another early start on Sunday morning, with the five-hour and three-hour events beginning at 10am. John Whittingtont from BathUniversity won the solo men’s competition, while Kathryn Bushnell from Bristol Bike Workshop won the women’s solo race. For complete results of all events, visit TimeLaps.
