There will be a final opportunity to see the film Klunkerz in a festival setting when it is screened on Friday, March 28 at the Fairfax Documentary Film Festival in California.
Klunkerz chronicles the birth of mountain biking through archival footage and interviews with the pioneers of off-road riding who built their bikes – the klunkers of the title – often from scavenged frames and parts they adapted to cope with the rigours of what was then an entirely new cycling discipline.
The film’s writer/producer/director, Billy Savage, has toured extensively during the course of 2007, presenting Klunkerz to film festival audiences across North America, Europe and Australia before heading for Japan. He sees the screening in Fairfax as a last hurrah for the film before he moves on to other projects. Click to read a review of the film by our International Editor, John Stevenson.
