Comments made a few days ago about Jesus Manzano might just land CV-Kelme team leader Alejandro Valv
Doping whistle-blower Jesus Manzano is to get advice from his lawyer on whether he can take legal action against former his Kelme team-mate Alejandro Valverde. The discussions stem from comments Valverde made earlier this month saying that Manzano “was not right in the head” and that he had seen him “do strange things” in the room they shared as team-mates a couple of seasons ago. According to AS, the newspaper which revealed Manzano’s allegations of widespread doping within the Kelme team, Manzano called Valverde after reading the comments to remind him he had never mentioned Valverde’s name in the revelations about doping. The announcement of legal action has become almost de rigueur since Manzano first made his allegations in AS three months ago. Comunitat Valenciana-Kelme team manager Vicente Belda has already announced he is set to sue Manzano, other current and former team staff are ready to follow suit, while Manzano is taking advice on counterclaims in several cases. Members of the Spanish legal profession must be rubbing their hands with glee, especially as several of those concerned are already taking part in a case investigating crimes against public health – drug use, in other words.
