New Australian endurance event announced

AROC Sport brings Capital Punishment to Canberra

The event will take in the best terrain Canberra has to offer.

Australia’s AROC Sport has announced a new endurance mountain bike event, Capital Punishment, to be held on Saturday May 30 2009.

The 100km course, designed by Tom Landon-Smith, will take in the best tracks Canberra has to offer.

The route begins at Sparrow Hill, where single tracks meander through the pine forest. It then passes through Majura, over Black Mountain and finishes with a bang at Mount Stromlo, host of the 2008 UCI World Cup and 2009 UCI World Championships.

There will also be a 50km route available to give riders a less demanding taste of Canberra’s terrain.

Race entry opens online at on February 15.
