Guides to Europe’s longest mountain bike route, the Transandalus in Spain, are now available in English for the first time.
Maps and roadbooks for each stage are available as free pdf downloads from www.transandalus.org. They feature route profiles and detailed instructions, together with information on where to stay and eat, and addresses of bike shops.
The 2,000km circular route passes through each of Andalusia’s eight provinces, taking in stretches of wild and unspoilt coastline and the mountains of the High Sierras. Seventy percent is on unsurfaced trails or singletrack.
With over 24,000m of climbing it is a physical challenge as well as an opportunity to experience Andalusia’s rich history and natural beauty.
Project co-ordinator Fran Cortés said: “I’m very proud of the work of the volunteers from the community of mountain bikers in Andalusia in creating the Transandalus route, which takes in the very best of our homeland.
“I’m equally proud of the international effort that has gone into translating our website and roadbooks into English and enabling us to share the Transandalus with mountain bikers from all over the world.”
GPS tracks and other resources are also available from the website. For more details, see www.transandalus.org.
