Hutchinson has released two new Tubeless Ready cyclocross tyres. The Piranha CX and Bulldog CX. Both are based on current mountain bike tyre technology and tread patterns.
The Piranha CX feature a low profile, fast rolling tread pattern for drier, smoother conditions.
The more aggressive pattern of the Bulldog CX features a more aggressive pattern for better grip in the mud.
The tubeless design allows lower pressure to be run all be it on a tubeless compatible wheelsets. Hutchinson recommends the Shimano Dura-Ace wheelset, the same one they recommend for the Tubeless ready road tyres. Not exactly a great choice of wheels but there’s nothing to stop you running the tyres with tubes. Or using a conversion kit from the likes of Stans No Tubes and Joe’s No Flats.
The Piranha CX comes in 700x34c, 127 Tpi and weigh 405g. The Buldag has identical specs: 700x34c 127tpi and 405g.
We haven’t had chance to review the CX tyres yet but we have tested the mountain bike version of the Piranha and Bulldog.
