NorCal League’s Fifth Annual CycleFest Gala, hosted by American road cyclist Levi Leipheimer, is in Mill Valley, California on November 8. Dinner includes a silent auction and displays by local handmade builders. The NorCal League has expanded its silent auction to include online bidding for those unable to attend the CycleFest in person.
According to the League, this critical fundraising tool reaches wider audience in hopes of boosting League finances. Bidding began on October 23, 2008 at 8 a.m., and ends at 10 p.m. PST on November 8, 2008, at the CycleFest dinner.
The NorCal League’s special events coordinator, Katie DeClercq, has high hopes for the online auction, in which a wide range of items from sought-after brands are on sale, including theater and ballgame tickets, vacations, century rides, bicycles and bicycle components, clothing, eyewear, artwork and photography, wine and wine tours, and even high-tech products. DeClercq is calling on cycling enthusiasts not only to participate themselves, but also to get their friends involved.
“The success of this auction depends on spreading the word to as many people as possible,” she said. “You don’t need to be into cycling to enjoy the majority of items for sale, but I think anyone with an awareness of the steadily increasing number of kids positively affected by the League will want to contribute to its continued success. It’s the first time we have run an online auction fundraiser, and we want cyclists from all over to help start us off on a high note.”
Some 70 items are currently listed, but more are arriving daily, so participants are advised to check back often to see what’s new. Favourite items can be watched, with email notifications going out when bidding begins.
