Two weeks after mullering himself big time (he tore large slabs of calf muscle and a good deal of tendon off on minibike pegs), Steve Peat joined us in Yorkshire for an MBUK shoot.
Steve picked me up in the Orange van with Greg Minaar driving, so it was in pretty good company, and armed with gladiatorial helmets and a big broadsword snapped up in York for a song (believed to have been Aces High by Iron Maiden), that we arrived on the coast to meet up with Rob Warner, Bullhead and, of course Steve Behr.
Peaty was along for the fun, he couldn’t possibly ride for the shoot, and for all the practise he’s had it didn’t look like he’s get all that far on crutches.
What we didn’t realise was that he had his wheelchair in the back, in the guise of his Yamaha trials motorbike. So it wasn’t long before he was hacking around the location BWAAAP! BWAAAAP!, flying off the jumps, his big broken and potted foot flapping off the front.
You could almost feel the pain should be bin it and come back down to earth – one of the few situations in which it better not to land on your feet.
No worries though, apart from getting us all arrested, the bike did the job of keeping Steve faster than everyone else very well indeed/Tym
