Simon Wigg, from Cambridgeshire will cycle from Paris to Berlin in aid of Cancer Research UK starting on the 30th April 2006. He will ride 2,386km over 17 days.
Lorraine, Simon’s mother, sadly died after losing her three year battle with ovarian cancer in 2004 and now Simon, his brother Andrew and friend Alex Clayton hope to raise £25,000 with 100 percent of the funds going straight to Cancer Research UK.
“My own way of dealing with it is to do something positive. Having tinkered around with a bike when I was young, getting on a bike seemed the obvious thing to do,” said Simon, who has been cycling for a year or so in preparation.
The 100 average mile-a-day route will take them from Paris, down through France to the Alps and across into Switzerland. The cyclists will then travel through Switzerland, across Austria, into the Czech Republic, into Germany and finishing in the capital Berlin.
