The day before the Tour of Britain is the Glasgow Grand Prix, which will be held in St George’s Square on Monday 29th August 2005. Pro cyclists, including some who will be riding in the Tour, will take part in a one hour race bang in the middle of Glasgow.
The Grand Prix is not only a taster before the six day Tour, starting on the 30th in Glasgow, but also signals the end of the British Criterium Race Series. It’s free to watch and begins at seven pm, but you may want to get there an hour earlier and see the Tour of Britain Team presentation.
“The Grand Prix is a really fast and exciting event and there will be the launch of the teams in the Tour of Britain who are introduced to the crowd,” said the organiser Graeme McGinty.
Confirmed teams participating in the Prix are riders from Recycling.co.uk/Litespeed, Barloworld-Valsir and DFL. There are over 20 teams from Scotland, including some Glaswegains as well competitors from Wales.
